As part of the ongoing Education Management Information System (EMIS) project, Saudigitus (HISP Mozambique) conducted data-entry training on August 25th in the city of Nampula, Mozambique. The training was led by technicians from Saudigitus, with participation from two representatives from the planning sector at the level of the Provincial Directorate of Education, five focal points from the districts of Nampula, Rapale, Meconta, Ribaue, and Mogovolas, and representatives of the Unidade De Assistência Técnica De Alfabetização Funciona (UATAF) association. The EMIS project is working to extend the DHIS2 software platform to offer an EMIS solution for the collection, analysis, visualization and use of individual and aggregated data from educational institutions.
During the training, participants were introduced to DHIS2 and learned how to enter data into the system. This training represents the first step in implementing the EMIS project in Nampula province. The same project is being developed in the province of Zambézia and it is expected that more provinces can be covered and that the education sector can increasingly make decisions based on real and reliable data.
