Eswatini MoET and UiO to speak at IIEP-UNESCO Strategic Debate
The Acting EMIS Manager for the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) of Eswatini, along with the DHIS2 for Education Project Manager at the University of Oslo, will join a panel discussion on ensuring that modern data systems lead to actionable improvements.
Modern education data systems are transforming how governments plan, deliver, and monitor education services. But how can these sophisticated tools translate into real-world improvements at all levels—from central authorities to local schools and communities? This question will take center stage at the upcoming IIEP-UNESCO Strategic Debate on “Connecting data points to improve education delivery.”
The debate will explore strategies to maximize the potential of education management information systems (EMIS) by focusing on how data is used effectively to address issues of equity, inclusion, and sustainability in education.
Panel Discussion Featuring Eswatini and UiO
Representing Eswatini, Nelsiwe Dlamini, the acting EMIS Manager for the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), will share insights from that country’s national experience. She will be joined by Sophia Kousiakis, DHIS2 for Education Project Manager at the University of Oslo (UiO), on an expert panel discussion regarding the challenges and opportunities in ensuring that modern data systems lead to actionable improvements.
The panel will also feature global education experts, including Am Gagnon from IIEP-UNESCO and Stanley Rabinowitz, author of IIEP’s case study on school data. The discussion will be moderated by Martín Benavides, Director of IIEP-UNESCO.
