Digitizing EMIS in 12 states in Nigeria to improve quality of data collection, analysis and use

In January 2024, UNICEF partnered with the University of Oslo (UiO) and the HISP network to enhance education data management by implementing a DHIS2-based system across twelve Nigerian states: Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Kaduna and Enugu. The project began with collaborative meetings among stakeholders to understand project requirements. HISP Nigeria and HISP Uganda led the customization of the system prototype to meet the education sector’s unique requirements. The project aims at building strong national capacities to sustainably manage the system and harmonization of data collection and sharing practices.
