3 Outcomes of Research Co-creation

Experiences from UNICEF’s Data Must Speak Research & DHIS2 for Education

By: Kevin Clidoro & Sophia Kousiakis Published: 29 Jun 2023

UNICEF has published a new article showcasing the impact of research co-creation in education, as demonstrated by UNICEF’s Data Must Speak (DMS) Positive Deviance Research and DHIS2 initiatives. These projects aim to scale education innovations by involving key partners and stakeholders in every phase of research—from inception to policy transformation.

Supported by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX), both DMS and DHIS2 are dedicated to promoting research that is actionable, demand-driven, and aligned with the needs of national education systems. In this article, the DMS and DHIS2 teams outline three key outcomes achieved through their co-creation approach, emphasizing how this method strengthens both the use and impact of research by leveraging Education Management Information System (EMIS) data.

Discover how these outcomes are driving meaningful changes in education systems and setting a standard for collaborative research practices.
